Heroquest. Why play anything else?

This was the board game that defined the dungeon crawl genre for 3 decades and running. While perennial greats like Descent, Dark World, Dragonstrike, Doom, and apparently any other game that starts with D, have perpetuated and possibly refined the 1 vs all mechanic. Heroquest did it first and, if not better, then so well that you needn't bother yourself with any other dungeon crawl. Or board game. Or hobby. Or anything really.

Heroquest is the game to end all games. Dice based combat, miniatures, spell and item cards, varieties of scenarios, asymmetrical player types, infinite dungeon design potential. It bridged the gap between board gaming and role playing effectively and accessibly. It upped the ante for dungeon crawl component quality. Being from 1990, this board game and com...

Being from 1990, this board game and components are in great shape - I would swear that it was 1992 at max, not 2024. Booklets crisp, borders sharp - cards edge clean, no creases, miniatures still had the rough little speck where they were separated from their molding frame. Awesome shape.

A game for those who seek adventure and fun.

Heroquest is a small slice of my childhood. I'm so happy I was able to find a very well kept copy of the game at a reasonable price. The game itself if literally hours of fun within a board game. With the ability to customize quests, you can continue playing this game for years on end without it ever getting dull. It's hard to find games that will keep your attention and keep you excited and Heroquest will definitely do both. It's entertaining and challenging at the same time. Great, except for packaging of original

The board game is great very versatile even though the basic rules are simplistic, but leaves much room for homebrew and group rule advancement. When buying a sealed version of this game, beware that the cards were wrapped in rubber bands from the manufacturer, and sometimes ruin some of the cards as they’ve been sitting for 35 years.
