A new lease of life for my beloved old maglite

Easy to fit, VERY bright compared to the original bulb. I've used it on a few occasions now and every time it has worked as it should (even after dropping it) the focus works as well, I was amazed at how far the spot beam reached, if you want to use it in candle mode I suggest tweeking the pins slightly to make sure they have a good tight fit. So far I am well impressed with it, and would recommend anyone thinking of getting an led torch to dig out their old maglite and treat it to an upgrade!Read full review

Massive improvement over original

My mini maglite was well past it, the light output compared to modern lamps was dire, but it was made to last a lifetime unlike anything you buy today made in china.
Upgrading to a 1 watt LED doesn't sound like a huge improvement, but it is surprisingly bright. The light spread is uniform because there is no longer a filament to alter the light projection.
If you have an old maglite, upgrade it to LED, they weren't cheap when originally bought them, this will resurrect it.Read full review

New life for an old torch

This has brought my old 1990's 2 AA Maglite into the 21st Century.
Narrow beam seemed well focused and lit objects in the distance, about 50 m away, quite well on a night time bush walk.
Wide beam did a good job in lighting a bush track at night.
Haven't tested the candle setup yet.

Good - BUT....

The light is certainly better than a normal bulb, BUT a new Maglite designed with an LED will give a better light, albeit slightly more expensive. Many new LED MagLite's have the ability to dim the bulb, and extend the battery lie, something that is not possible with this replacement bulb.Read full review
