The perfect lens
The Nikon 50 1.4 Ais represents the transition from classic to modern. 50 years of Nikon technology is here... from lens development through coatings through rugged. This lens was built for professional use. It will work on the very 1st Nikon F camera body and most every camera through a new top of the line Nikon D5. And, it will work on all the new mirrorless cameras.
It is the perfect street lens that will capture every conceivable lighting condition.
Does it have a weakness? Yes, it is manual focus and difficult to use for fast moving action shots. But then again, sometimes blur fits the moment perfectly. Read full review

Love it
I love this lens. I can get really sharp focus, I would say noticeably more than with a "kit lens". With a wide aperture, you also get beautiful bokeh blurring of objects that aren't in focus. It takes a little practice to get used to the manual focus, but in my opinion this is worth the savings compared to buying a brand new lens. ($$$!) Very happy with purchase.Read full review

excellent bokeh
I loved this lens (the SC version) when I got it for its bokeh but then it was stolen. It worked well on my Canon DSLR with a glassless adapter. Ohhhh spinning the focus wheel was the ultimate stim toy -- better than any fidget cube. Now I have the AI version which I can use on both my Canon digital and my Nikon N90 film camera I acquired recently. Did I mention the focus ring is a delight to turn?Read full review

a very good Nikkor normal lens
The Nikkor 50mm f1.4 S.C. lens is a very good lens. It is not considered as sharp as the 50mm f2 lens but the resolution is excellent when stopped down. The 1.4 aperture makes the lens easier to focus in low light. I use a normal lens often and use both the 50mm f2 and f1.4 Nikkor lenses with good results.Read full review

Stealin even though I was buyin
Got this in pristine condition. At least internally it's flawless. For a lens made back when I was starting to gain interest in photography it's a dream come true. I can't believe that I got it delivered for a total of $95.
Every now and then you hit it right. It's smooth as silk and focus is right on. Works great on D , 200,300,700 and 7100. And goes great with my Ai-s 24 2.5,105 2.0,180 2.8 and 3002.8 manual lenses. Just love older all metal Nikkor's from Japan, virtually indestructible and worth the searchRead full review

A very nice lens
I bought this lens to use on a fully manual film camera and it is a great lens for that purpose. The images are turning out lovely, with an almost painterly quality. I love the bokeh! Images are sharp and have good contrast.Read full review

Awesome lens.
Within a few days of receiving this lens, I used it on both my Nikon SLR and DSLR cameras, and I was very impressed with the level of sharpness and clarity the images came out. The item was very clean and appeared hardly used, I am extremely happy with this purchase. Read full review

NIKKOR 50mm f/1.4 Lens
Overall appearance of the lens is "like new" with the exception of a small scratch on the outer ring at the front of the lens. This small defect does not impair function. The lens glass is clean, unscratched and coatings appear pristine.
My only small disappointment is that the lens was shipped wrapped in paper and that there was no front or back lens cap included. The additional cost of the caps would be trivial compared to the cost/value of the lens.Read full review

Not as sharp wide open as the f1.8
Very easy to focus due to larhe aperture, but at f1.4, not as sharp as the f1.8 until stopped doen to f5.6.
