I.m not a gamer...

I'm not a gamer, but my kids are and I noticed that their left-hand-keyboard, right-hand-mouse positions were the same as I use for my CAD design software. I bought this guy and taught it all the shortcuts and macros I use for my design software. It took me about a week to train my brain, but now I swear, it has speed up my CAD design by 20%. I mean, instead of a 4 or 5 key series I used to have to enter, now I just hit one button and the macro does it all. Far more comfy too. Love this guy. Any button can be anything, even a few things. Mechanical or nothing.

If you have already been spoiled by a mechanical keyboard then you don't want to go anywhere near this. I would love this keypad, but it has two major flaws.

(1.) The keycaps are not mechanical and thus extremely sticky feeling in comparison. Its something you can get use to, but if your switching back and forth between two types of keycaps then you going to have a bad time.

(2.) The key spacing and design are inherently flawed. When i bought this i didn't notice that all the keys were lined up... unlike a natural keyboard. This creates a learning curve for your muscle memory and again something you don't want to be switching back and forth between (keyboard and keypad). The second thing i didn't notice was the lack of tapering on the keys. This is a major MAJOR issue when you need to be fast with the keys. Since the keys aren't tapered like normal keys they feel bunched together. You WILL hit multiple keys when you don't mean to.

Ever try gaming on an iMac keyboard or a MacBook? Its like that, but with long pressed sticky keys that are in the wrong position.Read full review

What the Orbweaver should have been

The Tartarus' bigger brother -- the Orbweaver -- was supposed to be my dream pad. Lots of adjustments to fit the hand, mechanical keys, pretty green lights -- everything you would want. Looked good on paper, but not so good in the hand. Super twitchy thumb stick (something I use for crouch and prone in games) had me playing "johnny Jump Up" no matter how much I tried adapting to it, and it had issues staying in place on my desk. Enter the little brother -- the Tarturus. Perfect right out of the box. Keys are plenty responsive, lighting is even prettier, and the thumb stick is perfectly responsive to how I like to utilize it when playing games. Really feels like an updated version of the Belkin n52te to me -- and that's the pad I was totally happy with for years. Looks like the Tarturus is my new king of the hill. Great for the gamer with little desktop space.

I love using this instead of my keyboard for games like CS:GO, Battlefield, etc.
Just map the keys to what functions you use and boom you off to gaming.
It is really easy to setup, just download the free software from Razer *synapse And in no time you will be fragging like a champ.

Buttons already going out!

The directional buttons pressed by the thumb are already not responding to being pressed. I've only used it for two weeks. To be honest that set of buttons felt like garbage from the beginning.
