A rarity, a very well done Television Movie. Within the confines of the restrictions of the small screen this does a very good job of telling a good story. I've never read the source material , but I understand certain changes have been made , but none that appear detrimental to the overall story. It starts slowly, but that lays the foundation of a cracking good yarn. Veteran British actor James Mason steals the show, but the rest of the cast are of a high quality. Still as good as when it first came out
I am afraid i was only seventeen when i first watched this film.I was on the edge of my seat,so intense,scared stiff.It is still a great film,with great characters,and actors,i am not scared now though.In fact i watch horror movies on the tv because they make me laugh more then scaring me.It is about time someone brought out a really lifelike movie to really make my hair stand on end.I remember,exactly what happened in this film,but this time i just enjoyed it.It will always be an iconic film.Read full review

A classic horror that still packs a punch.
Good story, good acting, no silly special effects. Just a little tame by todays standards, but the remake was awful. Multi layered story with plenty of sub plots. And James Mason has never been better. It has even been remastered so it looks & sounds sharp too.
