Scientific Anglers 135474 Absolute Trout Fluorocarbon Tippet 5x

Not great in 6x size

Not my favorite premium quality 6x fluorocarbon tippet to date. It’s very strong, it holds knots very well, it’s a little more supple than most fluorocarbon tippet materials. However it tends to get curly easier than other fluorocarbon tippet. I use 6x 90% of the time so I am careful with my knots and even unspooling tippet because I hate curling tippets. I even took off the silicone band around spool and replaced with the soft ponytail holder type band, the silicone band seemed to cause the tipper to come off the spool with waves in it. It’s not so much from knots but any hard stretch or twist of the tippet puts a curl in it that cannot be completely removed by further stretching or friction.
This material would probably be outstanding in 4x or stronger as it’s supple and would probably be hard to curl at that thickness..Read full review
