Compact decent kit lens for Sony E-mount.
This lens was a replacement for a defective lens several years beyond warranty. It is an extremely useful kit zoom taking really decent images for size and cost. Its form factor is its USP. On the Sony A6000 the camera and lens fit easily into a fleece or coat pocket and thus can be with me all the time to take 35m equivalent zoom range of 35-70mm on an APSC sensor.
The British based supplier Liny Cam also popped in a mini-tripod and lens cap as surprise gifts, which more than compensated for the fact that it was not supplied in an official Sony Box. Read full review

Sharp Pics, Poor Zoom Control!
I purchased this lens instead of the more usual 18-55mm lens that is the usual first choice for the Sony NEX 5N. The lens elements are of good quality and produce sharp pictures, however it has many shortcomings! Build quality is cheap and all plastic, but the main problem with this lens is a lack of a dedicated zoom ring. Instead, there is a slider button to the side of the lens which is slow to respond and also does not allow any fine control. All in all, considering the price of the lens, my opinion is to stick with the 18-55mm Sony lens which is both cheaper, controllable and much better build quality. I have both lenses in my kit and from now on it is the 18-55mm lens I will be using!Read full review

Actually it's brilliant
Was so dubious about the power zoom but it's really sharp with great colours. It beats my 18-55mm predecessor kit lens on my NEx-5N. It is even tactile to use as you can still twist the barrel and the motor zooms in and out for you. You don't miss the 5mm at the far end of the zoom. Worthwhile
The good points are its focal length range is very useful, the small size and weight encourage you to take the camera with you when you want to travel light. It is a little slow to power up however and the longer ranges are not as sharp as I would wish for. Read full review

But better imaging lenses are available, if larger and heavier, less portable, more versatile, and much more expensive!
