Does what I want it to

So far so good with this smart plug. We use it to control a lamp in our living room. It connected to to the Kasa app easily. We have an Amazon and a Google home assistant and the plug communicates with both of them without issue. We like the schedule feature where we can turn the plug on/off like a timer (that's really what we are using it for). I'd recommend it but think it costs a bit more than it should. I see other smart plugs for less. I haven't tested any of those out yet so it's hard to compare but the technology is pretty simple so I imagine the less expensive ones would be fine as well.Read full review

Inexpensive option for trying out a smart device

The TP Link Mini is the best rated least expensive smart plug on the market. Its super reliable and EASY to program. I have 5 now and I use them to turn on and off various AC units and lights. Easy to install and connect, and the software provides a lot of ways to customize the outlet based on time, sunlight, temperature, and other triggers. All the app features seem to work perfectly, and the outlets reconnect with no trouble after being unplugged and moved. It's advertised as compatible with Nest, but I haven't gotten it to work directly with my Nest equipment/app yet.
