Excellent trigger upgrade.

This is an excellent after market trigger for a Winchester Model 70 equipped with the old style trigger. Note that if your rifle has the MOA trigger, this the Model 401 will not work and you would need to order the Model 70 MOA trigger. Be sure to confer with the Timney site to order the correct trigger for your Model 70 variation. Also, if you have a Model 70 Compact Classic, modifications must be made to both the rifle and the trigger for it to work properly.
Once installed the trigger is crisp and clean with no take up and very little over-travel. I specified mine to be sent with a 2.5 pound pull and that was exactly what I received. I believe these are among the best after market triggers available.

The Trigger cannot be installed with existing bolt release spring

I have a Winchester Model, pre-MOA , serial number G2572752. The problem is that the Tinmey trigger fits in the grove that the bolt release spring hooks in. The bolt release spring can not be moved forward enough to allow the retaining pin to be installed.Read full review

Winchester Model 70 Timney Trigger

Outstanding trigger with great quality that is very easy to install. Adjustment was set at factory to nice pull, and the fit and finish was great. I would recommend this trigger for any stock or custom application.Read full review

When looking for quality. Look at Timney.

I have used a Timney before. I have them in several of my hunting rifles. They are well made and are good for converting military bolt action rifles to hunting rifles. I am proud to have this on my model 70.Read full review

Model 70 love

Not much aftermarket for Model 70's these days. I fell out of love with the Canjar trigger my "Bull" gun came with. This Timney fits the bill for me and at about a third the money Jewell wants for one that only goes a half pound lighter than this one.Read full review

Awesome trigger!!

Install was easy, did take a little patience getting the hammer spring in place. Once installed it was the best trigger I have had on a rifle. Took 7 shots at 100 all touching. I have disliked the trigger in my model 70 for year and never shot consistent with it. The new trigger has changed that!Read full review

Timney #401 for Winchester Mod 70.

The 401 Timney trigger for the post 64 Win 70 requires the reuse of the bolt release spring. This spring is too short to be hooked behind the trigger per Timney's instructions. They recommend using needle nose pliers to grab the spring and hook it behind the trigger. Timney should supply a $2.00 spring. Should have taken it to gun smith for a trigger job likely would have been cheaper. FYI Winchester no longer has this spring available. Read full review

Prefect trigger to solve a hard trigger pull.

The Timney trigger for my Winchester model 70 dropped in perfectly. The trigger arrived right on schedule. Other reviewers stated they had a problem with the bolt release spring. I didn't have to modify the spring whatsoever. The small catch of the spring just sits on top of the side. No issues at all. Pull weight adjustment is easy.Read full review
