Good for copying VHS to DVD
I purchased one of these in order to copy old compact VHS tapes to DVD. The copying process is pretty straightforward and quality is perfectly acceptable given the comparatively low quality (to modern formats) of VHS. The only downsides are that you need to use the remote (make sure you have one) to control the copy process; you need to remember to finalise the DVD (it does not do this automatically until end of DVD is reached) and there is no S-Video output (either S-video DIN socket or via SCART) - SCART only supports Composite video and RGB.
However, overall proved reliable and painless in copying a large number of VHS tapes and more reliable that Panasonic models I tried previously all of which broke down.Read full review

An extremely useful and versatile machine
The quality of the dvd copied from,a vhs tape is better than the original tape in both picture and sound. For example the tape hiss from many vhs tapes is completely absent from the resulting dvd.
This machine has many features and I am still at the exploration stageRead full review

Classic Old School Tech
A great retro product from a trusted brand, easy to set up and use. Smart looking and well constructed. Ease of use and great for playing / recording on both VCR and DVD.

Can be Used Straight fro the Box
I'm very pleased with this purchase. Not cheap but, so far, worth the money. It arrived early, well packed with a remote control and various leads and could be used 'straight from the box'. There is a manual available online which is worth looking at.
I've used it in both recording and playback modes and the picture quality is good.
The only problem is that, being 'vintage', it has an input Scart connector which requires a converter.Read full review

Why did they stop making these?! 😟
Dunno how I will get through life without these fantastic machines. They've stopped making them now and mine has finally died, so that's s that! Over to hard driver recording and I have to watch recordings where I taped them. No more recording something on the upstairs one and bringing it down to watch on the downstairs one! Or, taking it round my fella's to watch! I thought technology was supposed to be progress! BRING BACK VCRsRead full review

Upscale digital video and Dvd player
Item is good quality, sound and picture is very good, very easy to use.
The Toshiba DVR20 Recorder is great.
It's very easy to use the The Toshiba DVR20 DVD Recorder, VHS to DVD Recorder.
The signal is also much stronger through the Recorder than it is just through the TV.
It fits neatly in to our TV Recorder stand/cupboard.
Nothing bad about it comes to mind at the momentRead full review
