Great addition to my kitchen

As I don't need a full size cooker, this, along with halogen oven will suffice for me.. I like the fact that it heats up VERY quickly, but the 5th star was not given because of the time it takes to cool down...I leave it for a good hour before cleaning and putting back on the shelf where it lives...and there is no '' off'' control, so you just turn it to its lowest setting and switch the plug off..but all in all,its perfect for me.Read full review

Bought t,o heat pan of soup, cool to hot.
Hot plate set on full, contemporary,inually switched off, every 8 seconds on, 8 seconds off.
Expected it to go on heating the soup until correct temperature.

Very handy

Good for cooking

I imagine this would be good for cooking food - but I use it to heat shisha coals (A shisha is a tall brass smoking implement most often seen in north Africa / Turkey / Syria / Middle East etc cafe environment)
- and as the Von Chefs heat distribution is not consistent across the sufrface of the hot plate it makes it rather difficult for my (somewhat unorthodox) purposes....Probably great for general cooking.Read full review

I was a bit sceptical about buying a very budget priced hob. I read a few reviews and I just wanted to get a single ring. Heats quickly and regulates well. Should have bit the bullet earlier, darn!

I bought a mini-oven-dual hotplate combo and the hotplates take an age to heat up and then you can't set it simmer? The one burner quit and I thought of getting it fixed (it's under warranty) but decided not to. I contemplated buying a separate hot plate for ages and this pushed me over the edge. Handy addition

We had recently acquired a paella pan which we found out wasn't suitable for induction hobs so we brought this to use instead of returning the pan, and because this hob is flat with no raised handles the pan fitted perfectly and as we have other pans that also cannot be used, it has saved us money in replacing them. I definitely recommend it for those who have induction hobs and don't want to get rid of their favourite pans.Read full review
