Use the correct cleaner.

Previously used carburettor cleaner (which I had lying around the garage) on the MAF sensor which made only a small improvement to the running problem.

Then read that you should only use the correct product so bought this Wynns EGR / MAF cleaner (because Wynns is a well known and respected company) removed the MAF and gave it a thorough clean, twice, and left it to dry out overnight before replacing. Result is the car now no longer hesitates and runs better than it has for many months, without jerking when accelerating, particularly from cold. Seemed to work, relatively easy to use.

Simply spray into air intake whilst a friend maintains the revs at 2000rpm to prevent the car stalling. Seems to have worked haven't stripped out EGR to check the point of the spray was that i wouldn't have to manually clean.Read full review

Its a bit of a shot in the dark and only a maybe.

Had EGR code on OBD with EML light on. Use cleaner as directed but it made no difference. Fault was soon cleared however by manual cleaning of EGR valve after removal which was a bit inaccessible..
