Great Value FTA HD receiver with PVR
Super Value -probably one of the best FTA HD boxes on the market.
Only a couple of negative points really.- sorting the channel numbers into a sensible order can be time consuming but if you have more than one box it is a simple matter to transfer the settings of one to the other via a Memory stick. Fast forward and fast reverse of recordings on the memory stick do not seem to work although the handset supports it and the same recordings will fast forward etc on other boxes including the later V9S.
Better picture quality though than the V9S which can go "clunky" - jerky scrolling captions and panned pictures. Only real advantage of the V9S is its WiFi Internet access and it has 2 USB sockets..Read full review

Product OK, instruction booklet a disaster
The "User manual" supplied with the equipment begins with two pages of fatuous "safety" instructions - don't trip over the cord, don't immerse it in water, don't set fire to it etc, and two pages of specifications full of acronyms comprehensible only to an electronics nerd, and two pages of index. There is then a page showing the remote controller where the contrast is so low that the arrows pointing to which button is which cannot be seen. Like wise, in the following eighteen pages the contrast of pictures showing what should appear on the TV screen is so low that the instructions on how to operate the equipment are incomprehensible. There is no clear instruction even as to what to connect to where when installing the equipment. All one can do is use initiative for the initial installation, and as to operation, just keep pressing buttons and see what happens. This user manual is by a country mile the most useless I have ever encountered for any equipment of any kind. The set-top box itself may well be fine, but it is going to take a great deal of experimentation to discover whether or not this is the case.Read full review

Very easy Box to set up, all user based menu system, loads of options to customize the box.
Box takes minutes to set up, picture and sound quality is very good.
Will take USB key and an external hard drive to record your channels.
True HDMI - HD viewing as well.
It's Wifi and Lan option both work very well, Controller is light and very easy to use, unlike bulky heavy ones with loads of buttons that you others wise don't know how to use or never use.
This remote is the opposite functional light weight.
Start up times for the box are very fast, can't really say anything negative about this box pound for pound it's a winner.Read full review

Fantastic Sky Box Replacement
This box is amazing. So easy to set up and so small! Putting on the gift is so easy, if you cannot see the camds setup then press 6666 from your remote to view it. Those of you who know about the gift, make sure you get a good seller, I have two lines, in case one fails my box picks up the other one immediately. I have not used recording on this box as I don't need it. I have read the manual and it can only record a channel or show when you are viewing it and you cannot change the channel and watch a second channel. If you would like that kind of feature then invest in a ZGemma box! Friend has it and you can get all channels on HD! With dual tunners! I would highly recommend this box and its cheap :)Read full review

Setting up challenges
The user's manual is extremely poor and virtually useless. The remote control bears no resemblance to the manual, hence it is a bit of a guessing game on how to set up the box and a number of buttons are inoperable. The screen display when trying to use the M/P function needs 20/20 vision.
I managed to fathom out some of the functions and am receiving many Freesat channels but cannot get Sky news which I find strange.Read full review

Great picture quality easy to set up and use , only downside is the keys on the remote are sometimes none responsive but after pressing a few times it works and allows you to switch channel etc (I have new Duracell batteries in the remote and receiver is located very close). Openbox V8S
Very easy to set up, but you need to watch the videos clips on Youtube to understand how to get the satalite connected to the box and search for channels. If you purchase a gift, again you need to watch the YouTube clips on how to set the Openbox up correctly.
Overall once all set up I am really pleased with my purchase and looking forward to watching my TV, the quality of all the channels I have viewed so far are of HD standard. Well worth the purchase..Read full review

Alternative EPG requires download and update. Thne works better (downloads and stores programs) but is still not great
