Very effective machine, and excellent for the price.
The assembly and maintenance instructions are very poor. While bagless is good, disassembling the filters and washing/drying them is more trouble than using quickly replaced bags.
The components are plasticy and I'll need to be careful not to snap/break any components when attempting to empty or clean (especially in view of the poor instructions & diagrams).My wife is hamfisted and I fear that she'll break the thing.
All in all, I'm well pleased with a machine which is effective and reasonably priced (refurbished).
I paid £135, but I would NOT pay the RRP of around £380.Read full review

Not as good as my old model
I ordered this 'refurbished' DC40 to replace my 8 year old DC25. The delivery from Dyson Ebay was excellent [less than 24 hours]. This was almost certainly a brand new cleaner.
On arrival I tried the cleaner and it has so much suction that it is virtually impossible to push across the carpet, this makes use very difficult.
Later that same week when unhooking the handle and hose it came apart and couldnt be repaired. Again Dyson were very quick in replacing the faulty handle, excellent again.
But and it is a concern:- This cleaner seems very flimsy indeed, the handle flexes when pushed with difficulty across my carpet [my wife really struggles] and I doubt it will last anywhere near 8 years as my old unit did. The build quality is rather poor and I wouldn't have liked to have paid the full asking price for this product.
Maybe this will be the last Dyson I buy sadly.Read full review

Dyson vacuum cleaner
Absolutely brilliant machine,have had my old Dyson for 18years and it's still going strong,never had any problems with it,if you wash the filter and clean the roller brush as per manufacturers instructions these machines will never let you down. This Dyson is a powerful , easy to use vacuum cleaner with excellent attachments .Arrived looking like a brand new one ....sparkling !
Boy can it suck up the dust , debris and animal hair ? Smaller dust cylinder than my old Dyson has but emptying not a nuisance as so pleased at seeing the contents in there and not on the floor or furniture . The release and click of the handle to stay upright feels a bit wobbly but that , maybe , is just because it's 'different ' . Hope it lasts as long as the Dyson it is replacing . . Hi, I recently bought this item and couldn't believe how quickly it came. Service fantastic.
I had an old heavy Dyson and loved it, never thought I would have to buy another one.
I had been surfing the net looking for another Dyson and had seen the Dyson Ball advertised on tv many times.
When it arrived I thought its going to be too light and not pick everything up.....how wrong was I...........its fantastic, its not too light or too heavy and glides around the room picking everything up in its way.
I find because its lighter I am doing my stairs much quicker too and everything clicks in when you need to use the tools and emptying is so easy too.
So so pleased I bought this, I love Dyson's and never thought I would find another one as good or better than my old Dyson, but I have.

Never had a Dyson before and I love it! I got the Animal one because I have a house full of pets, and I’m amazed by what comes up off of what appears to be a clean floor! It’s heavier than I expected and you have to put some effort in to push it but that’s because of the suction. Doing the stairs is easy now as the hose stretches a long way. Dyson ball DC40 Animal
having three large dogs
Invested in the lighter DC40 must say it has good excellent suction on carpets and hard floors however be warned if you use it on dog paw mats that collect dirt etc or similar type mats.
The suction is too great for them it will not move across them Not even if you move the button at the front to low at the brush end
having said that you can use the wand with rotor attachment but be careful to switch off the Machine before
replacing the wand back in place if you still have the rotor brush attached when in place its still working if you have long hair you could get it caught up in the two rotating brushes or loose clothing
Its light and easy to use we have it for upstairs' only

A little more high maintenance than a Henry but certainly out performs! Dog hair does get a bit stuck when trying to empty it tho, which can result in having to try and fit my hand up the side to remove it. It great you can see how much it's picking up dirt and dust wise.Read full review
