Simple, effective & very good value

A 'blast from the past' it might be considered by some! I can't recall now how long ago it is I first got one of these devices? I really like the simplicity of this product. Forget any hooking up to the internet and/or any complex scheduling via a clever phone app, just use the remote control to turn on/off your TV, as you might, and a multitude of other devices (as you have so connected them) will turn on/off, 'in sympathy'. At Christmas, I connect up our Tree lights to the device too. Despite having acquired one a number of years ago, I began experiencing some problems in recent months with things turning on 'in sympathy' with the TV. Naturally, I suspected the 'Power Down' product and so hunted down and purchased a new one (two for only £6 delivered, in fact). Alas, the problem has turned out to be with one of my ageing (connected) devices having developed an issue! As I say, a nice and simple (no frills) gadget, at a fantastic price.Read full review

Not suitable for auto-powering dust extractor in a workshop

This is a good product for what it was designed for - disconnecting peripheral devices when desktop shuts down.
I assumed it could be used to power up my workshop dust extractor when power tool starts, but found it unsuitable due to 5-6 seconds delay between power tool switch on and peripheral socket (dust extractor) being powered up. When you use it with something like mitre saw you are usually done cutting before dust extractor ever comes on.Read full review

Useful device, ideal for my application

I bought this to replace a faulty master-socket-current-sensing 4-way power socket in my home recording studio. It is intended to be used with a remote control, but the infrared sensor also features a push button that turns on the switched socket, and holds it on until the computer in the master socket shuts down, then switches off all the ancillary equipment. Works brilliantly and is just perfect for my setup - useful device and excellent value 🙂Read full review

An excellent energy and labour saving piece of kit.

I now have two of these. One for my Smart TV and peripherals and this new one for my PC. Apart from the energy saving aspect of not having everything on standby it now turns off not only my printer and monitor but also my desk lamp and Hi- Fi as I have plugged a four socket trailing extension into one of the Power Down's peripheral sockets.

Works well

a replacement for two that stopped working, very useful for what it does (for me; turn off surround sound amp when TV is in Standby), can't find any other alternatives.
Previous ones lasted only a couple of years though.Read full review
