The fit the originals should have been.
The original hoods like others have stated did fit but never did really stay in place. I attribute it to a softer rubber compound likely that these replacement sets seem to not have. They seem to be slightly stiffer. But a sit in warm/hot water and a little spray from some soapy water on hand from tubeless tire setup work and these slipped right on and wiggled into perfect position. No more annoying top and bottom grip slides where the edge is raising and out of position to annoy you for miles and miles and make you want to pull over and try to skooch it into where it should be knowing it won't comply anyway :) . Perfect replacement hoods for Shimano RS-685 shifters.
Over time my Shimano RS-685 shifter hoods became distorted and loose. These are the exact Shimano replacement items which fit better than my original hoods. Great! Shimano redesigned hoods for RS685 levers. If you have old baggy ones, you really need to buy these new ones. Installation is like charm, put hoods into wamr water for a while, meanwhile remove old ones, use some hand alcohol sanitizer to lubricate levers and apply moderate force to install.
