You can now automate your donations to save time and effort.

What you need to know

eBay for Charity lets you donate a portion of your sales to charitable causes through your listings. With recent updates, it’s now even easier to give back, whether you’re a longtime supporter or just getting started.

We’ve updated our eBay for Charity Terms and Conditions and simplified the donation process, making it faster and easier for you to get your contributions to charity. This means you can now automate your donations by having them deducted from your total sale, instead of managing monthly invoices. The donation amount is automatically sent to PayPal Giving Fund, who help get it to your chosen charity faster.

To start automating your donations in accordance with the Terms and Conditions, just edit any existing listings created before 31 Oct, 2024, where you’ve chosen to donate a portion to charity. For any listings created after this date, your donations will already be automated.

Save time: Instead of having to manually transfer your donations every month, we’ll automatically collect and send the amount when your buyer pays for the item. This means your donations will get to your chosen charity faster, saving you the hassle.
Policy compliance: Updating your existing listings will ensure your contributions are sent automatically, and in line with our Terms and Conditions, avoiding any disruptions to your donations.
Increased donations: The automated process will reduce the amount of unpaid donations, ultimately resulting in the charity receiving funds as promised.
Build trust: Buyers will have more confidence when shopping, knowing their money is being sent straight to the charity.

Next steps

To ensure your donations are automatically deducted and sent to your chosen charity, follow these simple steps:

Go to your Active Listings page on Seller Hub.
Click ‘Edit’ on any unsold charity listings created before 31 Oct, 2024.
Review the legal charity disclosure and then select ‘Revise listing.’

To make this process faster and easier, you can also choose bulk listings.

Once you’ve revised at least one listing, you’ll have authorised eBay to automatically deduct the donation amount from your total sale.

FAQs

What if I refund the buyer for a return or cancellation, or for reporting that an item hasn't arrived?

If you issue a refund before your donation is sent to the charity, the donation amount will be included in the refund to the buyer. In this case, you're only responsible for the remaining amount, excluding any applicable fees.
If the refund happens after PayPal Giving Fund has already sent your donation to the charity, you'll still need to refund the full amount to the buyer. For a reimbursement of the donation amount, you'll need to contact the charity directly to request this.

You can check the status of your outstanding donation payments and pay your invoices from your Donation Account Dashboard.
