Introducing new features for simpler and safer selling

Our marketplace is powered by our seller community, so we’re excited to introduce new programmes and more protections to make selling simpler, safer and more successful for you as a valued business seller. We’re also committed to ensuring a fair and equitable marketplace, and will continue to innovate and evolve for our business sellers to ensure your future success.

A trusted place to sell for businesses

For over 28 years, we’ve provided a trusted marketplace where buyers and sellers can do business with confidence. To keep this momentum going, we’re always analysing and optimising the protections we offer to our sellers. With this in mind, we’re introducing more measures to ensure you’re better protected against inappropriate buyer conduct.

Better protection against fraudulent returns

We’re dedicating additional customer support to address fraudulent returns more effectively, ensuring faster and simpler resolutions.

Credit for false “not as described” claims

You’ll get more credits for the cost of postage if a buyer falsely claims that the item isn’t as described.

  • If you believe the buyer made a false claim, just accept the return and then report the buyer to us.
  • If your report is accepted, you’ll receive an allowance for the return label cost on your next invoice of up to £3.50.
  • All negative and neutral feedback, defects, and open cases resulting from a false ‘not as described’ claim will automatically be removed from our service metrics.

This is a limited protection subject to the report being accepted and includes other factors such as seller performance. You can find more details on our Seller standard policy page.

Promoting fair competition for business sellers

We’re dedicated to providing business sellers with every opportunity to succeed on eBay and will be increasing policy protection to ensure a fair and equitable marketplace for all business sellers.

We monitor trading activities on eBay, and we’ll continuously help business sellers using a private account to transition to a business account, or restrict selling activity as necessary. In addition, we’ve reduced the number of free listings available to private sellers. Alongside this, only business sellers will be eligible to benefit from the use of third-party tools and software.
