Offer free returns and get 50% off return shipping labels on eligible listings

What you need to know:


We’re updating our returns policy to better meet buyer expectations. From 8 June, free returns are now required on eligible Parts & Accessories listings to help you stay competitive and offer a better buying experience. To support you, you’ll get 50% off eBay return shipping labels when you use eBay Labels for remorse returns. This update makes returns simpler – so buyers can shop with confidence and choose your listings.

Why this matters for your business:


Buyers are more likely to purchase when returns are easy. By offering free returns, you help remove hesitation and build trust. That can lead to more conversions, smoother transactions, and fewer issues after the sale. A consistent returns experience also helps your listings stand out in a competitive category.

What’s changing:


From 8 June, you’ll need to offer free 30-day returns on eligible Parts & Accessories listings. This applies to listings that meet the criteria below and is designed to create a more consistent and reliable shopping experience across the category.

Eligibility:


Free returns are required if:

  • The item is listed on eBay.co.uk and located in the UK
  • The item is being shipped to a buyer in the UK
  • The price of the item is more than £10
  • The item is new or new other
  • It’s a fixed-price ‘Buy It Now’ listing

What’s excluded:


The following are excluded from the mandatory free returns requirement under Easy and Free Returns and the 50% return label subsidy:

  • The price of the item is less than £10
  • Heavy and bulky items (full list in FAQs below);
  • Tyres and tyre & wheel packages;
  • Batteries and hazardous materials (including but not limited to lithium batteries and oils);
  • Local collection / local pick-up only listings;
  • Listings using freight shipping;
  • Items in ‘Used’ condition;
  • Auctioned items;
  • International orders (i.e., where buyer or seller is outside the United Kingdom); and,
  • Non-business seller listings.

Next steps:


By 8 June, make sure your eligible Parts & Accessories listings offer free returns. If your listings aren’t updated, we’ll automatically apply free returns to eligible listings that were live before 8 June.

New listings that don’t meet the requirement may be updated automatically or blocked from publishing.

By offering free returns for remorse returns, you’ll benefit from 50% subsidised eBay return labels when using eBay Labels.

  • When will the subsidised eBay return labels be available, and how can I use them?

    The reduced-rate eBay return labels will be available for eligible returns once the updated return policy takes effect starting 8 June. They’ll be automatically applied and you’ll only be charged 50% of the label cost for transactions and returns after 8 June.

  • Do I have to use eBay to generate shipping labels?

    No, you can upload your own label, but the 50% reduction isn’t applicable to non-eBay-generated labels.
