What’s changing and why
From 8 June 2026, we’re introducing Easy & Free Returns for eligible parts and accessories listings. On these listings, you’ll need to offer at least a 30-day free return period for buyer change-of-mind (remorse) returns.
This applies only to listings that meet all of the following criteria and are not listed in the “What’s excluded” section:
- Item location: UK
- Buyer location: UK
- Item price over £10 (excluding postage)
- Condition: “New” or “New - other”
- Format: Buy it now (fixed price)
This update helps you build greater trust with buyers, making it easier to convert interest into sales and deliver a smoother, more confident purchasing experience.
Returns for items because they are not as described and covered under eBay Money Back Guarantee or because the “item does not fit” under eBay Assured Fit will continue to be handled in line with existing eBay policies.
Our 50% return label subsidy
To support this change, we’ll help cover 50% of eligible return label costs for buyer change-of-mind returns on qualifying listings.
Key things to know:
- The subsidy only applies when you use an eBay return label
- It’ll be automatically applied when all eligibility conditions are met
- Where a return is eligible, you’ll cover the remaining 50% of the label cost and any surcharge fees
- For returns where no eBay label is available, you’ll be required to provide the return label
You’ll still handle returns where the item is not as described (for example, damaged in transit), in line with existing policies.
Next steps
Please make sure your return settings and listings are updated to offer at least 30-day free returns by 8 June 2026 to comply with this new policy.
If your existing eligible listings don’t meet the policy requirement, we’ll update them automatically. New listings that aren’t compliant will also be adjusted or kept from going live until they meet requirements.
You can still choose how you send return labels to buyers, either using an eBay return label or your own.
What’s excluded
The following are not included in the mandatory free returns requirement under Easy & Free Returns or the 50% return label subsidy:
- Heavy and bulky items
- Tyres and tyre & wheel packages
- Batteries and hazardous materials (including but not limited to lithium batteries and oils)
- Local collection / local pick-up only listings
- Listings using freight shipping
- Items in “Used” condition
- Auctioned items
- International orders (i.e., where buyer or seller is outside the United Kingdom)
- Non-business seller listings

FAQs
Can I opt out?
No. From 8 June, free 30-day returns will be required on all eligible listings in Parts and Accessories categories covered by this update.
How does this work with eBay Assured Fit?
Easy & Free Returns operates in parallel to Assured Fit. If the item doesn’t fit the buyer’s vehicle, we’ll cover the full cost of return shipping as part of eBay Assured Fit.
I am a private seller, do I have to offer Free Returns?
No, this update does not apply to private sellers.
How do I receive the subsidy?
You’ll receive the subsidy automatically when you use an eBay return label for a change-of-mind return. For subsidised labels, the reduced rate will be provided automatically. You will only be charged for 50% of the full label cost.
I already offer 30-day free returns — am I eligible for the subsidy?
Yes, all eligible items under this policy qualify for the 50% subsidy. eBay return labels will offer the subsidy as standard on eligible listings. Free shipping in excluded categories are not eligible for subsidised labels.
